A trip to beamish!

I've already been to South Shields fair to gather some research so my second place to tick off the list was beamish. They have a fantastic steam powered carousel and afew other vintage fairground items. It was difficult to get some pictures without children in them and the carousel still! But I managed to get some. Whilst I was there I of course had to visit the sweet shop to, I bought a selection to draw for Thursday.

Concept

After doing so much work in a scetchbook over the summer I decided even after all that...to change my mind. As I was doing birds I started to find it difficult to gather primary research because of the time of year. So me being me first proper day back I'm back in the library starting from scratch.

However, I now have the research and I am slowly but surely catching up. I came to the conclusion To go for the fairground theme, but look at a vintage fairground when duck egg was a very popular colour, rather than the typical red, blue, yellow etc you see now.

South Shields fairground

Today I went to South Shields fairground to gather some pictures for research.
This fairground has been a place of many memories from my childhood as it's changed over the years ( in some ways not at all) its still a fun little day out.
To top it all it was a very warm day for this time of year so I got some decent none cold shaky hand photographs!
I'm still unsure if I want to use any of these in my new project. However, it's always good to have plenty pictures and I had afew cheeky rides whilst I was there.

Mario my pal.

Successful trip

I did it,

Came back from the metro with strictly stuff for uni. I love these boxes I found in tkmax, their so colourful. I decided to also get myself a new diary, this year it's all about even more organisation.

Shopping time!

Today i shall go to the metro centre strictly for university equipment only...

Maybe one pair of shoes won't hurt. However, now I have my student loan I am going to invest in some decent chalks  and also some gouache paint. I am determined to master flat colour this year and hopefully with a better set of gouache this will be possible! I wasn't happy with any of my flat colour paintings last year, they were all to streaky or to bumpy, a child in reception could have done better.

I've kept them though so compare at the end of this year, there just hidden well so I can't see them.

:)

Fresh bedroom

After months of feeling well... Rather depressed by the darks colours of my room (dark browns) I decided its time to decorate.

Probably wasn't the best time to start it whilst starting university again but hey ho, when the balls rolling why let it stop.

I needed my room to be more girly, I tried the whole mature wallpaper... Just wasn't for me at all. However I found this paper in wilkinsons for only £10.96 a role! Which I was in shock for how beautiful it was! Especially considering my last paper which is now in the bin cost £40 a role!
It's safe to say my parents were not happy with this decision, even more so that we needed 3 roles because of the pattern.

Anyway after a full day of decorating, I am so happy with the results. Perhaps a trip to ikea and dunelm mills to get some bits and bobs wouldn't hurt, a girls got to accessorize!

And the second year begins...

Today was my first day of year 2 at CCAD...scary.

Literally feels like yesterday I was getting the train to Hartlepool anxious of what the day would bring. or if i would even cope travelling each Day,settle in or feel good enough.

Last year was a whirlwind of experiences, I learnt so many new techniques etc but also learnt how important organisation skills, attendance, timekeeping and commitment is at university level. Believe me without these things you might aswell leave day one, you only get out of it what you put in it!

Never did I imagine in my first year I would improve the way I did, have the commitment and patience but also go to the big apple to be apart of surtex trade show.

This year I intend to continue with these progressions and push myself further, continue to develop skills and explore them in more depth.

I feel fresh, rested and ready for what year 2 brings.
